Hypnotherapy is a deeply relaxing therapy that can help you to make positive changes in your life that can improve both your physical and mental well-being.
Hypnosis is a completely natural state of mind. It’s been compared to being engrossed in a television programme whilst overhearing a conversation in the background. Basically all else fades into unimportance. Everyone experiences a state of trance in their everyday lives – we don’t notice it because it is such a natural state.
When we are in this state of altered consciousness it becomes possible to make changes to the way we behave, think or feel. My role, as a qualified hypnotherapist, is to use a set of hypnosis techniques that will enable you to make the positive changes that you need and want to make to your thoughts or behaviour.
People usually have some questions about hypnosis and hypnotherapy. There are a few points opposite which may reassure you but don’t hesitate to get in touch if there’s something specific you’d like to ask. We can discuss the way hypnosis works in more detail at your initial consultation, if you’d like.
To reassure you:
In hypnosis you are not asleep and you can come out of the state at any time
Hypnosis itself is not dangerous as it is a completely natural state
You cannot be made to do, say or think anything that you don’t find acceptable
It can feel like the experience just before you drift off to sleep, where your mind wanders and you feel very relaxed; you are still aware and yet your body falls asleep.
